CFPB Hosts Credit Union Advisory Council

08/23/17 – The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) will host the next meeting of its Credit Union Advisory Council on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Eastern.

The Council will meet at the CFPB, 1275 First Street N.E., Washington, DC 20002. The Council will discuss Know Before You Owe overdraft and financial empowerment initiatives.

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act authorizes the CFPB to establishing advisory councils to advise and consult with the Bureau’s Director on a variety of consumer financial issues. At the behest of the Director, the Bureau created the Credit Union Advisory Council. The Council advises and consults with the Bureau on consumer financial issues related to credit unions with total assets of $10 billion or less.

Written comments will be accepted from interested members of the public and should be sent to CFPB_CABandCouncilsEvents@cfpb.gov, a minimum of seven days in advance of the meeting. The comments will be provided to the Council members for consideration.

Individuals who wish to attend the Council meeting must RSVP to cfpb_cabandcouncilsevents@cfpb.gov by noon, Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Members of the public must RSVP by the due date and must include “CUAC” in the subject line of the RSVP.

The Council’s agenda will be made available to the public on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, via consumerfinance.gov. Individuals should express in their RSVP if they require a paper copy of the agenda.

A recording and transcript of this meeting will be available after the meeting on the CFPB’s Web site consumerfinance.gov.
